What to include in a math report
Copy the full page URL including its query string. Every calculator writes its inputs into the address bar, and the Copy link button on each tool captures the exact scenario you were looking at, so pasting that one link tells us the state, rate, wattage, runtime, term, or capacity you entered without any further description. Then state the result you expected and the formula, tariff sheet, or published table you checked it against. A report that says a number looks too high is hard to act on; a report that says the tool returned $103.82 where the DOE method gives $96.40 for the same 630 kWh and rate can be resolved the same day.
Other reports we act on
Accessibility problems are treated as defects: keyboard traps, missing or unclear labels, focus that disappears, contrast that fails at normal zoom, screen-reader output that reads a result out of order, or a layout that breaks below 360 pixels wide. Please name the browser, assistive technology, and screen size. We also want to hear about a stale official table, for example when the Energy Information Administration publishes a newer annual rate vintage than the one shown in a Sources block, and about broken or redirected citation links to EIA, NREL, DOE, EPA, NIST, or code references.
What this address is not
Do not send utility account numbers, meter numbers, home addresses, tax records, loan applications, credit information, or other sensitive personal details. Nothing here needs them, and a calculator scenario URL should never contain them either. kWh Math cannot evaluate a contractor, verify a quote, arbitrate a billing dispute with a utility, give tax or investment advice, or provide emergency electrical guidance; for anything involving live wiring, gas appliances, or a suspected hazard, contact a licensed professional or your utility directly.
This is not a quote-request service. We do not forward messages to installers or energy retailers, do not sell contact details, and do not add correspondents to a mailing list. Messages are read and kept only as long as needed to investigate the issue and record the correction that followed.
