kWh Math publishes general educational estimates. Every result depends entirely on the inputs you supply and on simplified, stated assumptions. Nothing here is engineering, electrical, financial, tax, legal, or purchasing advice, and no result is a quotation, a guarantee, or a determination of what you will actually pay. Using the site means accepting the conditions below.

Informational use only

Verify utility tariffs, incentive and tax law, equipment specifications, site conditions, permit requirements, and contractor scopes with the responsible authority before acting on any figure. The bundled electricity rates and consumption benchmarks are national statistical averages from the 2024 Energy Information Administration vintage and are not your rate schedule. Solar production factors are planning conventions, not site surveys. Appliance wattages are typical planning values, not measurements of your equipment. Where a page reports a year in its title, that reflects the publication cycle of the page, not a claim that the underlying data was collected in that year; the body copy and Sources block always state the real vintage.

Permitted use

You may use the calculators for personal planning and internal business evaluation, and you may share a scenario link freely. Do not present an estimate from this site as a guaranteed energy yield, a savings promise, a code-compliant design, a lender disclosure, an engineering deliverable, or a utility invoice. Do not scrape, mirror, or republish the pages as your own, and do not remove or misattribute the source citations, which exist so a reader can check the arithmetic against the original tables.

Two areas need particular care. Wire-sizing results address conductor voltage drop only; they are not a substitute for ampacity, temperature correction, conduit fill, overcurrent protection, grounding, equipment listing, or review against the electrical code adopted in your jurisdiction, and a licensed electrician must design and inspect the installation. Financing, payback, and incentive figures are undiscounted arithmetic on the numbers you enter; they exclude taxes, fees, credit terms, degradation, maintenance, and the time value of money, and the federal residential solar credit scenario is off by default because eligibility depends on current law and on your own circumstances.

Availability, liability, and changes

The service is provided as available and as is, without a warranty of uninterrupted operation, freedom from error, or fitness for a particular project. To the fullest extent permitted by law, kWh Math is not liable for decisions, purchases, installations, energy bills, lost savings, project delays, or other damages arising from reliance on an estimate. External links point to publishers such as the Energy Information Administration, NREL, the Department of Energy, NIST, and standards bodies; their content remains under their control and their terms, not ours.

We correct errors when they are reported and may change formulas, data vintages, page structure, or these terms at any time. Material corrections to a calculation are noted on the affected page.
